Real Estate & Mortgage Closings

At the English Law Group, the health and safety of our clients and employees is our highest priority. In response to the outbreak of COVID-19, we are diligently monitoring updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and medical professionals to ensure we are taking the necessary precautions.

Current Procedures:

Sellers and Buyers may sign in their car. If this is requested, we will drop off the documents and pick them up after they are finished signing in order to comply with social distancing requirements. If clients have questions our attorneys will be on call to answer any questions that might arise.

If the clients wish to come into the office to sign we will separate the buyer and seller in different rooms if requested. All parties are required to wear a mask. We will give the documents to sign to the client and the attorney will be there, divided by a partition, to answer any questions. At this time, agents and lenders can attend closings. Because this is a fluid situation our policies are subject to change.

We will continue to update our clients with any changes to procedures.

Additional Precautions:

  • All parties are required to wear a face mask;

  • Temperature checks when entering the office;

  • Enhanced staff hygiene precautions such as hand-washing between closings, utilization of hand sanitizer and appropriate social distancing, such as sitting and standing at least six feet apart;

  • Providing hand sanitizer to clients in lobby and closing rooms;

  • Disinfecting closing rooms between closings;

  • Providing new pens to each individual in each closing and asking that the pen be taken with the individual when they leave;

  • If a signer is ill, they are asked not to come to closing and make alternative arrangements for closing their transaction.
